This issue's Message from the Acting Administrator and top story highlight OJJDP’s efforts to address the nationwide spike in violent crime by emphasizing the use of evidence-based community violence intervention strategies. Additional stories feature a participant in a career-focused mentoring program for youth with disabilities and an initiative providing life skills and counseling to girls at risk for involvement in the juvenile justice system. Other articles cover the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges' annual conference and an OJJDP-funded effort to provide training and technical assistance to judges presiding over child abuse and neglect cases.
