Information collected by the core survey and survey addenda will provide critical data on the types and functions of AFISs in State and local agencies; the current policy agreements among jurisdictions that permit the sharing, exchange, and searching of latent fingerprints electronically; and the technological and regulatory factors that impact interoperability. The questionnaire has 10 major sections, with each section containing subsections of questions that pertain to the main topic. The questionnaire sections address general information, AFIS information, tenprints and palm prints, latent prints, latent fingerprint searching on the agency's AFIS, latent fingerprint searching on another AFIS, re-launching searches, official agreements with outside law enforcement agencies with an AFIS, supporting local law enforcement agencies that do not have an AFIS, and latent print personnel.
