In this tenth episode of the special release season of the National Institute of Justice's (NIJ's) Just Science podcast series, Molly Dix is interviewed about her role at NIJ's Forensic Technology Center of Excellence (FTCoE), which involves transitioning innovative forensic research and innovative technology into forensic practice.


Ms. Dix is an employee of RTI, which is the company that was awarded the National Institute of Justice's contract to establish and operate the Forensic Technology Center of Excellence (FTCoE), whose primary mission is to link forensic research findings and innovative forensic technologies to the work of forensic scientists in the field and laboratories. Ms. Dix has an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and a masters in the management of intellectual property. Before coming to RTI, she had worked at NASA in an endeavor to transition NASA research into fields other than space exploration. In her work at RTI, she continues to manage projects that apply various research findings and innovative technologies to address real-world problems and improve living conditions. She does such work for FTCoE in examining ways in which various research findings and technological developments can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of collecting and analyzing evidence at crime scenes and preventing crime. In this interview, she also answers questions about interesting work experiences and what she enjoys outside of her work.
