Presents number of jails and jail inmates at midyear 2011. This report describes annual change in jail populations and patterns of change from 2000 through 2011. The report shows rated capacity of jails and percent of capacity occupied. It provides estimates of admissions to jails, details the volume of movement among the jail population, and presents the distribution of jail inmates by sex, race, and Hispanic origin. It also includes standard errors for jail estimates.
