This document’s purpose is to define a process through which new federation names can be registered in the Global Federated Identity and Privilege Management (GFIPM) Federation Name Registry, noting that there are several attributes of GFIPM Metadata Specification which require the use of a globally unique GFIPM federation name. The document provides a detailed, numbered listing of the 10 steps for the registration process, and notes that registrants must submit a name registration request to GFIPM Support with the following components: full name of federation; description of federation; requested federation name; point of contact; and an optional federation web site URL. The document also provides a link to a website where registrants may find publicly available request submission instructions.
