This guide provides information to faith- and community-based organizations on developing important and sustainable partnerships to prevent and reduce crime in their neighborhoods.
Abstract
On December 12, 2002, President George W. Bush signed Executive Order 13279 calling for equal treatment of faith-based and community groups that apply for Federal funding. This order states that religious organizations will be treated on an equal basis with secular organizations in all grant determinations and administration. In response to the Executive Order, this guide was subsequently produced to provide information to faith- and community-based organizations on how best to build capacity, improve partnerships, and effectively apply for and manage grants. The emphasis in this guide is placed on the importance of developing solid partnerships because the challenge to tackle tough, ongoing issues is nearly impossible without them. Useful strategies for faith based and community groups to succeed together are examined. Tables, figures, bibliography, and a list of resources
