Abstract

The Child Abduction Response Team (CART) certification program has been developed to assist local and state jurisdictions in the creation and implementation of CART programs. Subject-matter experts, practitioners, legal advisors, policymakers, and other child-protection specialists have contributed to the CART program's operational components and evidencebased best practices related to the recovery of endangered missing and abducted children. These professionals have worked with the U.S. Department of Justice (USDOJ) and the AMBER Alert Training and Technical Assistance Program (AATTAP) to develop a process and criteria whereby jurisdictions can voluntarily seek CART certification by demonstrating development of and adherence to nationally recognized standards of excellence for CART policy, procedures, and protocols.
