The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention's National Training and Technical Assistance Center (OJJDP's NTTAC), in conjunction with OJJDP, will host a web event titled Preventing Youth Hate Crimes in Schools and Communities.

The webinar series is part of OJJDP’s Preventing Youth Hate Crimes & Identity-Based Bullying Initiative. This webinar follows OJJDP's 2-day national symposium to increase understanding and prevention of identity-based bullying and hate crimes as they impact our nation’s youth.

Presenters will explain what safe and affirming behaviors look like versus rejecting behaviors and how to instill in children an appreciation and respect for one another's differences and help them develop empathy, conflict resolution and critical thinking skills.

Presenters will also help participants understand how schools, families, law enforcement, and communities work together to prevent the development of the prejudiced attitudes and violent behavior that lead to hate crimes.

Finally, presenters will explain to participants how to create an equitable, supportive, safe and inclusive climate in schools and community programs for youth.
