Offered as a highly interactive in-residence training program, the Child Abuse and Neglect Institute is aimed at judges who have been newly assigned to child abuse and neglect/dependency cases, or judges who have been presiding over these cases for some time and who want the latest information about best practice in this area.
This week-long program will bring together local and national faculty to teach on core topics including:
- Individualized child welfare
- Important federal laws and regulations
- Domestic violence and reasonable efforts in dependency cases
- Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and state-tribal collaboration
- Substance abuse and permanency planning
- Attachment and bonding
- Medical issues in child abuse and neglect
- Implementation of the new Enhanced Resource Guidelines
