Abstract
YOUTH AND THE LAW, A BOOKLET WRITTEN FOR HIGH SCHOOL CIVIC CLASSES BEGINS BY DISCUSSING YOUTH AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO THEIR COUNTRY, PARTICULARLY THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES AS CITIZENS. YOUNG PEOPLE'S PLACE WITHIN THE FAMILY, THROUGHOUT THE WORLD AND HERE IN THE U.S. IS DELINEATED. VARIOUS TYPES OF DEVIANT BEHAVIOR IN WHICH YOUTH OFTEN BECOME INVOLVED ARE DESCRIBED. SOCIETY'S ATTEMPT TO DEAL WITH SUCH PROBLEM JUVENILES BY MEANS OF THE JUVENILE COURT SYSTEM IS EXPLAINED. THE AUTHORS CONCLUDE WITH A GENERAL DISCUSSION OF THE SCOPE OF THE PROBLEMS OF OUR YOUTH TODAY, ATTEMPTING TO DETERMINE SOME OF THE POSSIBLE CAUSES AND SOLUTIONS TO THIS SITUATION. THROUGHOUT THE WORK THERE ARE LISTS OF STUDY QUESTIONS AND STATEMENTS FOR DISCUSSION.
