Abstract
The transportation chapter answers some of the more frequently asked questions pertaining to youths' means of transportation, including bicycles, motorcycles, and cars. Information pertaining to the purpose and processing in juvenile court is presented in another chapter, followed by a chapter on drugs that defines the five classes of drugs, their effects, and whether the drugs are addictive. Information on the dangers of certain drugs is also included. The chapter on education deals with such issues as dress codes, students' rights, attendance at school, college, and careers. Information pertaining to jobs held by youth focuses on regulations bearing upon the employment of persons under 16 years old, work permits, employment laws, and income tax and social security laws. The chapter on financial responsibility answers questions on savings accounts, credits, loans, and paychecks. The chapter on sexual conduct provides information on Virginia law that proscribes certain types of sexual conduct. Attention is given to guidance for the rape victim. Other chapters address the various health problems and concerns facing today's youth, parental rights and responsibilities in relation to their children, and family planning. The final chapter provides information on some of the ways juveniles may impact the decisionmaking and lawmaking processes in Virginia. A subject index is provided.
