Abstract
Section A, Global Overview, shows key findings from the second evaluation of Global Strategy for Health for All by the Year 2000. Data come from 151 countries--5.2 billion people, representing 96 percent of the world's population. It covers the period 1988-1990, and relates to progress in coverage by primary health care and quality of care, as well as specific aspects and major determinants of health. Section B shows data from the Global Strategy by region. Section C, Vital Statistics and Life Tables, summarizes the demographic situation of countries in terms of parameters most likely to be relevant for health management. Section D, Causes of Death, is the most extensive section, and shows death statistics by sex, age, and cause. Figures and 13 appendixes
