Module 2 describes the materials in the pack and suggests how trainers can use the materials in practice. Module 3 provides a broad introduction for course participants to the key problems and issues that mentally disordered offenders present to the criminal justice agencies, social services, health services, and others who deal with this offender category. The fourth module describes the criminal justice process from the perspective of mentally disordered offenders and highlights the roles of various agencies, professionals, and individuals. Remaining modules focus on understanding mental disorder, the diversion of mentally disordered offenders from the criminal justice system, working with mentally disordered offenders, joint working and interagency cooperation, mental health legislation and codes of practice, people with learning disabilities, and race and gender issues.
