This report describes counseling and education services provided by the Women's Self-Help Center (WSHC) in St. Louis (MO) for abused women for 1989-1990 as well as financial and legal information on the program.
Abstract
Two types of group counseling are provided for abused women: one for victims of childhood sexual assault and one for women who are trying to establish violence-free lives. The Training for Independence through Education and Support program (TIES) provides the latter group with an opportunity to develop job skills. Other services include a hotline for women in crisis staffed by volunteers, a WSHC education program comprised of a Speaker's Bureau that provides talks and presentations on violence against women and violence-free curriculum for high schools; Justice Outreach programs, Court Escorts Program; and the Volunteer Lawyers projects. The report contains a listing of the Board of Directors, committees, and staff. It also provides information about gifts and contributions from supporters, finances revenue, sources of funding, and expenses.
