Abstract
Current case law, Federal and State statutues, and administrative guidelines form the basis of the analysis. One section discusses the use of attorneys, with advice on when an attorney is needed and how to choose one. The courts are described, with information on jury duty, small claims court, and traffic court. Dealing with the police is explained in terms of the rights of an arrested person and the nature of searches. A section on family law covers divorce, child custody and support, and juvenile law. Women as victims, the next major topic, is considered in terms of sex discrimination, sexual harassment, rape, and battered women. Financial matters are covered in the final section, with specific chapters on wills, social security, consumer concerns, and bankruptcy. Case citations are provided.
