THIS REPORT DISCUSSES THE PRESENT POSITION OF WOMEN IN POLICING IN EUROPE AND OTHER COUNTRIES AND RECOMMENDS THAT WOMEN HAVE THE SAME ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS, TRAINING, AND DUTY ASSIGNMENTS AS MEN.
Abstract
THE FIRST REPORT ADDRESSES THE PRESENT TYPES OF ASSIGNMENTS AND THE EMPLOYMENT LEVELS OF POLICEWOMEN IN EUROPE, THE UNITED STATES, AND ISRAEL. THE BIOLOGIC AND GENETIC BASIS OF SEXUAL DIFFERENCES IS DISCUSSED IN THE NEXT SECTION. REPORT ON THE POLICE FOUNDATION'S STUDY OF WOMENPOLICE IN NEW YORK AND ON A SIMILAR EXPERIMENT IN BONN, GERMANY, ARE PRESENTED. SUGGESTIONS FOR THEIR UNIFORMS ARE GIVEN. THE CONFERENCE'S WORKING PARTIES RECOMMEND EQUAL TREATMENT AND USE OF POLICEWOMEN WITH THE EXCEPTION THAT UNITS COMPOSED ENTIRELY OF WOMEN SHOULD NOT BE DEPLOYED IN RIOTOUS OR POTENTIALLY RIOTOUS SITUATIONS....PLO
