Abstract
THE ASPECTS DISCUSSED INCLUDE LEGAL AND MORAL CONSIDERATIONS, RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION, TRAINING, ASSIGNMENT, AND EVALUATION. THE DISCUSSION IS THE RESULT OF A WORKSHOP ARRANGED BY THE DAYTON-MONTGOMERY COUNTY CRIMINAL JUSTICE CENTER IN DAYTON OHIO IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE DAYTON POLICE OFFICE OF PUBLIC INFORMATION IN 1974. THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE CENTER BEGAN A PROCESS LATE IN 1973 TO GATHER INFORMATION REGARDING THE GENERAL ISSUE OF WOMEN IN POLICING FROM POLICE DEPARTMENTS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY. RESOURCES CONSISTED OF POLICE DEPARTMENTS WITH VARIOUS POLICIES, PRACTICES AND NUMBERS OF ACTUAL FEMALE PATROL OFFICERS, AS WELL AS GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES AND EMPLOYMENT-OPPORTUNITY COMMMISSIONS INVOLVED IN THIS ISSUE.
