The statistics of female arrestees in California collected by the State Bureau of Criminal Statistics from 1976 to 1985 show that female arrests have increased by 33.9 percent in 10 years, and that the most frequent arrests are felonies against property and drug law violations and the misdemeanors of theft and drunken driving.
Abstract
Women aged 15 to 59 were selected for analysis. For every 100,000 of this 'at risk' group, female arrests increased almost 34 percent, though male arrests were 5 to 6 times more frequent. The largest number of female arrests took place from 1976 to 1980. In 1985, 48 percent of the women arrested were between the ages of 18 and 28. 7 graphs and 1 table.
