Abstract
AREAS OF DISCUSSION ARE AN INTRODUCTION TO CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION, A SUMMARY OF THE DATA, AND THE REFERENCE TABLES. THE USEFULNESS OF STATISTICS, THE FBI AND WISCONSIN UNIFORM CRIME REPORTING PROGRAMS, THE NEW AREA CONCERNING A TRANSACTION-BASED INFORMATION SYSTEM, INFORMATION ON CRIME TRENDS, CHARACTERISTICS OF INDEX CRIMES AND OTHER CRIMES, DATA ON ADULTS AND JUVENILES ARRESTED, AND STATISTICS ON LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL ARE DISCUSSED. THE REFERENCE TABLES INCLUDE CRIME INDEX DATA AND GENERAL CRIME STATISTICS RELATING OFFENSES KNOWN TO THE POLICE, CRIME RATES, AND CLEARANCES.
