THIS PLAN CONTAINS AN ANALYSIS OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROBLEMS FACING THE CITY, A SUMMARY OF ACTIONS TAKEN TO DEAL WITH THESE PROBLEMS, A LIST OF PRIORITIES FOR ACTION, AND PROPOSALS FOR SPECIFIC ACTION PROGRAM.
Abstract
THE CITY'S EFFORTS IN THE AREAS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT, PROSECUTION, ADJUDICATION, DELINQUENCY PREVENTION, AND COORDINATED PLANNING ARE REVIEWED. A SOCIOECONOMIC DESCRIPTION OF THE CITY AND AN OVERVIEW OF SERVICES AVAILABLE TO CITY RESIDENTS FROM NON-CRIMINAL JUSTICE AGENCIES ARE ALSO INCLUDED. IN IDENTIFYING THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE NEEDS AND PROBLEMS, PROFILES ON VARIOUS CRIMES AND CRIME RATES, CRIMINAL JUSTICE MANPOWER, PLANNING AND EVALUATION EFFORTS, AND COMMUNICATIONS ARE PROVIDED. AMONG THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE PRIORITIES LISTED IN THIS REPORT ARE PREVENTION AND CONTROL OF ROBBERY, BURGLARY, JUVENILE DELINQUENCY, AND DRUG ABUSE; INCREASING COMMUNITY AND VOLUNTEER INVOLVEMENT; UPGRADING LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL, PROSEUCTION, AND COURT ACTIVITIES; AND INCREASING SERVICES TO EX-OFFENDERS. AN OUTLINE OF A MULTI-YEAR CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLAN AND A DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTION PROGRAMS PROPOSED FOR IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINUATION DURING THE YEAR ARE INCLUDED.
