This packet, containing a video cassette, instructional materials, and user's guide, is designed as a training device in labor arbitration.
Abstract
A fictional dispute between a company and its labor union illustrates the arbitration process. Mistakes made in the case presentation are included to demonstrate the effects of such errors on the arbitration process. Viewers will see the case through the arbitratior's eyes, thus gaining an appreciation of the importance of effective presentation. The principles and procedures of the illustrated case are applicable to all labor arbitrations. Handout materials include an outline of grievance arbitration steps, a statement of the arbitral issue to which both parties agree, exhibits to be presented to the arbitrator, a video tape outline, questions arising at certain points during the presentation, and a discussion of past practices.
