Abstract
No one credential guarantees success as a security professional. Persons with backgrounds in many fields have gone on to successful careers in security. Increasingly, however, the key to a loss prevention career can be a bachelor's or master's degree in security. Recognizing the growing need for well-trained security managers, colleges and universities across the country are refining their security course offerings and establishing degree programs in this speciality. A total of 26 institutions are reviewed. Program descriptions, course listings, faculty profiles, and student composition are included. A table with degree offerings, year of program inception, faculty size, number of majors, and type of program is provided.
