This is a retrospective file study of all West Indian adolescent offenders referred to the Toronto Family Court Clinic compared with a group of Canadian-born offenders matched for age, sex, and date of referral.
Abstract
Twenty-six boys and 12 girls in each group, with a mean age of 14 years, are compared with respect to family background, developmental, social and school history, delinquency history, and clinical interventions. The immigration history of the West Indian subjects is described. A broad spectrum of related literature is discussed. Differences between the two groups are subtle, perhaps obscured by methodological limitations. Results are discussed with a view to modifying conceptual and intervention frameworks. Tables, endnotes
