Abstract
This Winter 2004 edition is the first electronic issue of this journal, which will now be offered as an electronic-only publication. The new CCDO focus areas are highlighted in this issue and include: public housing, reentry, and American Indian/Alaska Native affairs. The issue contains articles within six sections: law enforcement, community policing, prevention (including intervention and treatment), neighborhood restoration, reentry, and American Indian/Alaska Native affairs. Stories included in these sections contain descriptions from the field regarding effective strategies, important events, community leaders, and grassroots efforts. The report contains both the highlighted excerpts of the articles, as well as the full articles themselves. Examples of articles contained in this issue include a description of the partnership between the U.S. Departments of Justice (DOJ) and Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to address the investigation, prosecution, and prevention of violent crimes and drug offenses within public and federally assisted housing. Another article on reentry describes the reentry program success in Utah, while an article in the prevention section focuses on the gang problem in Delray Beach, FL. Story submission guidelines and a story submission form are provided.
