This article describes the development and implementation of a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) sensor program.
Abstract
Implementation of a CBRNE sensor program should involve careful planning and requires involvement from all stakeholders. The decision to purchase and use CBRNE sensors, will not completely protect a jurisdiction’s residents in every possible future situation, however, as the law enforcement community embarks on a new mission with the implementation of these devises, crime prevention tips and tactics are being brought to the general public. As the number of terrorism-related events increase around the globe, law enforcement’s revolving mission will require the integration of CBRNE detection technologies into its standard operating plans. It is essential for law enforcement agencies to develop incident management plans and identify innovative response approaches that can incorporate the use of detection equipment. A carefully assembled implementation plan helps to ensure proper use of CBRNE devices. 1 figure and 4 notes
