Abstract
SHOP PERSONNEL ARE INSTRUCTED TO BE ALERT FOR THE MOST COMMON SHOPLIFTING TECHNIQUES. SOPHISTICATED PROFESSIONAL METHODS ARE REVIEWED. OTHER TYPES OF THEFT, SUCH AS PRICE-SWITCHING AND SHORT-CHANGING, ARE ALSO PRESENTED. PREVENTIVE PROCEDURES ARE OUTLINED. CUSTOMER APPEARANCE AND BEHAVIOR FACTORS WHICH MAY INDICATE CRIMINAL ACTIVITY OR INTENT ARE ALSO STRESSED.
