This teen action kit provides state-of-the art brochures, articles, and other materials designed to help adolescents prevent crimes against themselves, friends and families, and their communities.
Abstract
It includes four major components. The first emphasizes skill development and includes a booklet on public speaking, teaching, listening, and decisionmaking skills; a foldout on building volunteer efforts; and a paper on effective use of the newspaper, radio and television media. The second component provides overviews of adolescent crime prevention, law-related education, mediation and restitution, after school, and job training programs. Also included is a discussion on the role of adolescents in program planning and policymaking. The third component -- camera-ready masters -includes articles, tip sheets, brochures, and quizzes on adolescent problems, crime, and victimization. A resource guide provides listings of organizations, books, films, curricula, and periodicals for teens and those who work with them. Also included is a listing of publications available through the National Crime Prevention Council.
