THIS ARTICLE EXAMINES THE PRESENT CONDITION OF WASHINGTON'S JAILS AND THE EXISTING STATUTES GOVERNING THEM.
Abstract
THE FAILURE OF LEGISLATION ENACTED IN 1974 TO PRODUCE MEANINGFUL CHANGES IN THE STANDARDS OF WASHINGTON'S JAIL FACILITIES IS REVIEWED. IT IS CONCLUDED THAT THE PASSAGE OF COMPREHENSIVE JAIL STANDARDS LEGISLATION IS NEEDED TO PROTECT THE RIGHTS OF THE CONFINED.
