This law enforcement survey of Washington State covers cities with populations of 2,430-3,900; cities with populations of 4,000-492,000; and counties in the State.
Abstract
Data are given on the number of personnel with arrest authority -the number of men and the number of women, the number of personnel with limited enforcement or civilian responsibility -- the number of men and the number of women, the number of commissioned officers and the number of officers who left a police department in 1981 for various specified reasons, the number of officers who retired, and an increase or decrease in the number of personnel. Data are also shown for assignments of commissioned and noncommissioned personnel, polygraphers and investigative hypnotists, minimum educational requirements, examinations, training and education, and labor. Personnel benefits, salaries, budgets for 1982, and summary of main issues involving third-party arbitration are also indicated. A total of 100 cities and 39 counties are surveyed.
