STATISTICS ON ALL ASPECTS OF POLICE OPERATIONS IN WASHINGTON STATE ARE PRESENTED FOR 1978.
Abstract
LARGE CITIES WITH A POPULATION RANGING FROM 3,368 TO 500,000 PERSONS, SMALL CITIES WITH A POPULATION RANGING FROM 2,024 TO 3,340 PERSONS, AND COUNTIES WERE SURVEYED. THESE JURISDICTIONS WERE EXAMINED IN RELATION TO THE FOLLOWING ASPECTS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT: POPULATION, NUMBER OF PERSONNEL WITH ARREST AUTHORITY, NUMBER OF MEN, NUMBER OF WOMEN, NUMBER OF OFFICERS WHO LEFT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO WORK IN PRIVATE INDUSTRY OR OTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES, NUMBER RETIRED ON DISABILITY, ASSIGNMENTS OF COMMISSIONED AND NONCOMMISSIONED PERSONNEL, PAID HOLIDAYS, VACATION, SICK LEAVE PROVISIONS AND ALLOWANCES, SIDEARMS, FALSE ARREST INSURANCE, MEDICAL AND DENTAL COVERAGE, REPRESENTATION BY BARGAINING UNIT, LIFE INSURANCE, MONTHLY SALARIES, AND BUDGETING INFORMATION FOR 1978. THE MAJOR PORTION OF THE SURVEY REPORT PRESENTS EXTENSIVE TABULAR DATA ON THESE SUBJECT AREAS AND ON THE MONTHLY SALARIES OF PATROLMEN IN THE STATE OF WASHINGTON AS OF JULY 1, 1978. (DEP)
