Significant statistical data is presented on compensation and benefits for corrections personnel.
Abstract
Major categories covered include the operating and capital budgets of State systems, compensation and fringe benefits for personnel, the education training and pay of correctional officers, and the State and county probation and parole services. Agencies such as adult and juvenile correctional departments, parole boards, probation and parole services providers provide information about unions and employees organizations, collective bargaining, and the right to strike. Where possible, comparisons are made with previous years to determine trends and directions. Information is included on juvenile care workers and correctional officers. Many aspects of corrections are explored and statistics provided on the budgets and populations of jail and detention centers, personnel, jurisdictions under court order, recidivism, and the death penalty.
