Abstract
THE PAPER SEEKS TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE UNDERSTANDING OF ESTABLISHMENT VIOLENCE THROUGH A PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION OF THE CONDITIONS LIKELY TO PRODUCE VIGILANTE ACTION, DEVELOPMENT OF A TYPOLOGY OF VIGILANTISM, AND DISCUSSION OF THE EFFECTS OF VIGILANTISM ON THE CREATION AND MAINTENANCE OF A STABLE SOCIOPOLITICAL ORDER.
