This article discusses the problems of the admissibility of videotaped evidence, the introduction of electronic evidence at trial, the use of tapes to substitute for expert testimony and for potentially unavailable witnesses, and the special problems of surveillance tapes.
Abstract
The place of the press and television at a criminal trial has been hotly contested in recent years. Of even greater impact may be the use of the new communications technologies such as videotape at other phases of the criminal justice process. (Publisher abstract)
