A sample of 212 foreigners, including 131 men and 81 women, living in Tokyo were surveyed concerning their experiences of criminal victimization during the previous year.
Abstract
The results showed that, of the 212 foreigners, 44 had experienced criminal victimization at least once during the previous year, for an annual rate of nearly 21 percent. In comparison, the rate of household victimization among Japanese residents of Tokyo was 19.6 percent in 1992. The annual rate of criminal victimization among foreign men was 24.4 percent, compared to 14.8 percent among foreign women.
