A series of tables were created to examine the phenomenon of the over-representation of verbal/performance splits among incarcerated felons.
Abstract
The Multidimensional Aptitute Battery is a new intelligence test that can be group-administered. Scores for this test were obtained for 1,225 male felons referred to a reception and diagnostic center for evaluation. Results indicate a significant, consistent over-representation of verbal/performance splits, with the performance score usually higher among incarcerated male felons. Data further suggest that this phenomenon is not linked directly to age, reading level, or general level of intelligence. 5 tables and 9 references. (Author abstract modified)
