TO GATHER THE FINDINGS FOR THIS REPORT, RESEARCHERS FORMED INTO TEAMS AND VISITED SCHOOLS TO CONDUCT SURVEYS. FEW OF THE SCHOOLS WERE IMMUNE FROM CRIMINAL MISCHIEF ACTS, THE RESEARCHERS FOUND. CRIMINAL MISCHIEF, A FORM OF VANDALISM, WAS THE MOST COMMON SCHOOL OFFENSE. IN 1975 IT AMOUNTED TO MORE THAN $119,000 IN DAMAGE TO THE SCHOOLS SURVEYED. THE STUDY CONCLUDES THAT WITHOUT COMMUNITY SUPPORT, EFFORTS TO CONTROL VANDALISM WILL BE LOST. THE REPORT RECOMMENDS A NUMBER OF SECURITY MEASURES THAT SCHOOL PERSONNEL CAN TAKE TO UNDERCUT THE SUCCESS OF VANDLAS....BS
