THE VACU-SAMPLER IS A COMPLETELY PORTABLE, UNBREAKABLE CONTAINER SUITABLE FOR OBTAINING SAMPLES OF ALVEOLAR BREATH FOR SUBSEQUENT ALCOHOL DETERMINATIONS.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR NOTES THAT BY CONTROLLING THE VOLUME OF MOISTURE SATURATED BREATH TO THE TOTAL VOLUME OF THE CONTAINER AND DILUTING THE CAPTURED BREATH MOISTURE, CONDENSATION IS NOT POSSIBLE. THE VOLUME OF BREATH COLLECTED ALLOWS FOR REPEATED ANALYSIS FOR POSITIVE CHEMICAL IDENTIFICATION AND QUANTITATIVE DETERMINATION. THE VACU-SAMPLER IS CAPABLE OF SAMPLING HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEMS WITH THE VENTING VALVE ATTACHED, AND OF SAMPLING ATMOSPHERIC AIR WITHOUT THE VALVE. IT IS CAPABLE OF THE COLLECTION OF VAPOR SAMPLES AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURES. USING THE GENERAL GAS LAW, A CORRECTION FOR MOST CONDITIONS MAY BE MADE CONSIDERING TEMPERATURE, PRESSURE, AND VOLUME.
