GENERAL STANDARDS AND RECOMMENDATIONS CONCERNING UTAH YOUTH SERVICE BUREAUS/CENTERS ARE PRESENTED.
Abstract
THE PURPOSE, GOALS, AND OBJECTIVES OF A YOUTH SERVICE BUREAU/CENTER ARE STATED. THE REPORT DISCUSSES A STRUCTURE OF DECISIONMAKING WHICH OFFERS A WIDE NUMBER OF PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY, INCLUDING YOUTH, AN OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SOLUTION OF YOUTH PROBLEMS. THIS STRUCTURE ALLOWS VARIOUS GROUPS AND INTERESTED CITIZENS TO WORK TOGETHER AND AVOID PROGRAM AND POLICY DECISIONS BEING MADE BY MINORITY GROUPS. CLIENTS TO BE SERVED BY YOUTH SERVICE BUREAUS/CENTERS ARE IDENTIFIED, AND THE FUNCTIONS OF A YOUTH SERVICE BUREAU/CENTER ARE DESCRIBED. FURTHER RECOMMENDATIONS ADDRESS STAFFING PRACTICES, EVALUATION CRITERIA FOR A BUREAU/CENTER, SOURCES OF FUNDS, AND NECESSARY LEGISLATION. THE REPORT PRESENTS EACH STANDARD WITH A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF ITS STATUS IN UTAH AT THE TIME THE RESEARCH WAS COMPLETED.
