Abstract
THIS PAMPHLET IS ONE OF A SERIES OF REPORTS OF THE UTAH COUNCIL ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE ADMINISTRATION. THE STANDARDS AND RECOMMENDATIONS CONTAINED IN THESE REPORTS ARE BASED LARGELY ON THE WORK OF THE NATIONAL ADVISORY COMMISSION ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE STANDARDS AND GOALS. THE STANDARDS PROVIDED IN THIS BOOKLET COVER THE NEED FOR PROSECUTORIAL SCREENING AND DIVERSION, SCREENING CRITERIA, SCREENING PROCEDURES, THE FORMULATION OF SCREENING GUIDELINES, CRITERIA FOR DIVERSION, AND PROCEDURES FOR DIVERSION. FOR EACH STANDARD, THE NATURE OF THE STANDARD, THE STATUS OF UTAH WITH RESPECT TO THE STANDARD, AND METHODS OF IMPLEMENTING THE STANDARD ARE DISCUSSED.
