EIGHT RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF UTAH GOVERNMENT AND COMMUNITY RESPONSE TO CRIME PREVENTION ARE OUTLINED, COVERING SUCH ISSUES AS RESOURCE ALLOCATION FOR SERVICES AND PUBLIC ACCESS TO SERVICES AND PROGRAMS.
Abstract
THIS PAMPHLET IS ONE OF A SERIES OF REPORTS OF THE UTAH COUNCIL ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE ADMINISTRATION. THE STANDARDS AND RECOMMENDATIONS CONTAINED IN THESE REPORTS ARE BASED LARGELY ON THE WORK OF THE NATIONAL ADVISORY COMMISSION ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE STANDARDS AND GOALS. RECOMMENDATIONS ARE PROVIDED ON SUCH AREAS AS RESOURCE ALLOCATION FOR FIRE, POLICE, PUBLIC RECREATION, PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION, STREETS, LIGHTING, AND SANITATION. ALSO INCLUDED ARE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PROVISION OF COMMUNITY SERVICES; ENACTMENT OF 'RIGHT TO KNOW' LAWS; MEDIA COVERAGE OF GOVERNMENT MEETINGS; PUBLIC HEARINGS ON ISSUES OF INTEREST; CITIZEN PARTICIPATION IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT; COMPLAINT AND INFORMATION PROCEDURES; AND ESTABLISHMENT OF ACTION LINE PROGRAMS.
