At the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, Safety and Protective Services consists of five divisions: fire services, information and personnel security, safety, security services, and technical services.
Abstract
The security services division is responsible for asset protection, perimeter patrols, traffic control, astronaut escort, and emergency response. The information and personnel division operates the badging and identification system that controls access to the system, assesses personnel, and provides security and safety awareness training. The Center's recent designation as a national resource will result in numerous security enhancements such as electronic intrusion detection equipment, especially outdoor perimeter sensors and closed-circuit television.
