Abstract
The U.S. Sentencing Commission, created by the Sentencing Reform Act of 1984, establishes sentencing policies and practices for Federal courts and has been specifically directed to establish a research and development program and to provide a clearinghouse and information center for the collection, preparation, and dissemination of information on Federal sentencing practices. The U.S. Sentencing Commission conducts research in support of its mandate, compiles information on data sources and relevant criminal justice studies, and collections data on sentencing guideline applications and other Federal criminal justice processes. The catalog lists U.S. Sentencing Commission information resources (HelpLine, Internet site, video and audio tapes, library resources, and training materials), publications (sentencing guideline manuals, annual reports, reports to Congress, legal briefs, policy development team and working group reports, and staff discussion papers), and statistical reports. The catalog includes indexes by publication title and subject.
