DESCRIPTION OF PROGRESS MADE ON THE MAINTENANCE OF THIS NATIONAL REPORTING SYSTEM FOR ADULT PAROLE AGENCIES AND ON THE USE OF THE PROGRAM BY PAROLE PRACTITIONERS AND OTHER INTERESTED PARTIES.
Abstract
THIS REPORT FOCUSES ON THE SET OF TASKS DETAILED IN THE 1972-76 GRANT APPLICATION RESULTING IN AN AWARD FROM LEAA. THESE TASKS WERE AS FOLLOWS: CONTINUATION OF THE CORE REPORTING SYSTEM; IMPROVEMENT OF REAL TIME RETRIEVAL CAPABILITY; IMPROVEMENT OF ANALYTIC CAPABILITY; EXPANSION OF PAROLE OUTCOME CODING; COMPLETION OF PAROLE SYSTEM DESCRIPTIONS; AND COMPLETION OF TIME SERVED STUDY. ALL PROGRAM TASK COMPLETIONS WERE RATED AS EQUAL TO OR ABOVE AGREED UPON LEVELS. THE EXTENSIVE APPENDIX, WHICH MAKES UP THE BULK OF THIS REPORT, INCLUDES COPIES OF PROJECT PUBLICATIONS, SAMPLE SPECIAL REQUEST RESPONSES, A DESCRIPTION OF THE REVISED EXPANDED CODING CORE, SUMMARIES OF LEGAL STRUCTURES GOVERNING PAROLE IN THE 50 STATES, AND A COPY OF 'FOUR THOUSAND LIFETIMES', A MANUSCRIPT ON TIME SERVED IN PRISON AND ITS RELATIONSHIP TO PAROLE PERFORMANCE.
