Abstract
THE NARRATOR CONVERSES WITH THE VIEWER ABOUT FACTORS MOTIVATING BEHAVIOR INTERSPERSED WITH DRAMATIC ILLUSTRATIONS OF THE PRINCIPLES DISCUSSED. THE FILM EMPHASIZES THE BASIC PREMISE THAT EACH INDIVIDUAL ACTS OUT OF A PERCEPTUAL SYSTEM OF IDEAS, FEELINGS, AND ATTITUDES THAT COMPOSE HIS UNIQUE WAY OF INTERPRETING THE ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH HE LIVES AND WORKS. UNDERSTANDING MOTIVATION IS SEEN TO INVOLVE AN EFFORT TO VIEW THE COMPONENTS OF A SITUATION FROM WITHIN THE PERSPECTIVES OUT OF WHICH ANOTHER PERSON IS ACTING. THE THOUGHT PROCESSES AND ATTITUDES OF WORKERS WHO RESTRICT THEIR PRODUCTION IS DRAMATIZED. THE IMPORTANCE OF INCORPORATING CHALLENGE, FREEDOM IN DEVISING PERSONAL MEANS FOR REACHING A DEFINED OBJECTIVE, AND A NONMANIPULATIVE COOPERATION BETWEEN MANAGEMENT AND WORKER INTO A WORKING PROCESS IS PRESENTED.
