DESCRIPTION AND EVALUATION OF A COMMUNICATION SYSTEM FOR NEW YORK CITY'S SUBWAY SYSTEM, DESIGNED TO MAINTAIN ON-TIME SERVICE AND EFFECTIVE POLICE COVERAGE.
Abstract
THE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM DEMONSTRATED CONSISTED OF TWO PARALLEL 2-WAY RADIO SYSTEMS, ONE BETWEEN TRAIN CREWS AND THE TRANSPORTATION HEADQUARTERS, AND THE OTHER BETWEEN TRANSIT POLICEMEN AND TRANSIT POLICE HEADQUARTERS. AFTER PRESENTING PRELIMINARY BACKGROUND INFORMATION RELATING TO THE PROJECT, THE REPORT PRESENTS A TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION OF THE ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT. MANNER OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE SYSTEM ARE DISCUSSED. THE REPORT ALSO PRESENTS AN EVALUATION OF ALL OF THE VARIOUS COMPONENTS OF THE SYSTEM, RECOMMENDATIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT, AND AN ENUMERATION OF THE COSTS OF THE PROJECT.
