This report outlines recommendations to guide the work of the Twin Falls, Idaho, Gang Prevention Planning Project.
Abstract
The community in Twin Falls was concerned about the possible impact of gang activity, particularly since gang- related graffiti had begun to appear in the town. The prevention project aimed to produce short- and long-term goals leading to cooperative interagency intervention, prevention, and suppression of gang programs by forming active subcommittees to act on goals, evaluate existing services, establish a working relationship with other agencies, stimulate community awareness and involvement, and promote parental involvement. Specific objectives are outlined vis-a- vis the community, media, local government, schools, human services, police, prosecutors, and probation officers. A plan for mobilizing community involvement in the effort to prevent gang activity is also included here.
