The aim of this book is to present a body of research that explores the issue of treatment readiness in offender programming.
Abstract
This book is intended for use by those members of law enforcement who are involved with the delivery of offender rehabilitation programs, such as psychologists, social workers, probation and parole officers, managers and policymakers, and prison officer. The primary focus of the book is on recent research that explores the issue of treatment readiness in offender rehabilitation programming. The book is divided into three sections. Part 1 includes five chapters that cover a model of treatment readiness, the origins of treatment readiness, readiness factors, and an assessment of treatment readiness. Part 2 includes four chapters that discuss how treatment readiness has been applied to four offender groups: interpersonal violence offenders, sex offenders, substance users, and personality disordered offenders. Part 3 includes five chapters that discuss different clinical and therapeutic approaches to working with low levels of readiness.
