Sources of specialized information are presented for security directors who want to expand their knowledge in nontraditional security areas.
Schools offering security curricula are frequently the best sources for specialized courses. Short courses, seminars, and self-directed training programs are offered by many groups. Books and magazines are excellent sources of information. Several organizations provide publications, training materials, and short courses in safety. The number of computer security courses, conferences, and publications are increasing rapidly. Information about risk management is provided by several groups. Auditing can be learned through local colleges and a variety of publications. Fire science, management, and training techniques can also be acquired through courses and reading. Sources of information for all these fields are provided, including associations, library reference works, names and addresses of organizations, and publications. The listings are intended as a starting point in the search for sources.
