Abstract
THE AUTHOR GIVES AN OVERALL VIEW OF THE SOCIAL SOLIDARITY IN MUCH OF AFRICA TODAY WITH EXAMPLES OF PUBLIC SUPPORT FOR THE LEGAL SYSTEM BY THE USE OF SANCTIONS, CONCERN, AND SYMPATHY EXTENDED TOWARDS THE OFFENDER. A STRONG SENSE OF SOCIAL CONSCIOUSNESS CAUSES MARKS COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT AT ALL LEVELS OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEMS IN AFRICA TODAY. THE AUTHOR SEES THE NEED FOR THIS TYPE OF INVOLVEMENT ON A UNIVERSAL LEVEL.
