THE PRESIDENT OF THE ITALIAN CRIMINOLOGICAL SOCIETY OUTLINES BASIC THEORETICAL AND PROGRAMMATIC TASKS NECESSARY TO DEAL WITH CRIME LEVELS WHICH HE ASSERTS HAVE REACHED CRISIS PROPORTIONS ON A WORLD-WIDE LEVEL.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR URGES PUBLIC, PROFESSIONAL, AND GOVERNMENT RECOGNITION OF THE NEED FOR INTENSIVE INTERNATIONAL AND INTER-DISCIPLINARY COOPERATION AND COORDINATION IN DEVELOPING NEW CRIMINAL JUSTICE AND SOCIAL DEFENSE SYSTEMS. LISTED ARE SOME TYPES OF INSTITUTIONS FOR CRIME PREVENTION AND OFFENDER TREATMENT THAT ARE NECESSARY IN A CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM BASED ON MODERN MEDICAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL, EDUCATIONAL, AND CRIMINOLOGICAL PRINCIPLES. ALSO DISCUSSED ARE SUGGESTED CHANGES IN THE SEPARATION OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROCESS INTO DETERMINATION OF RESPONSIBILITY AND DETERMINATION OF SANCTIONS. --IN FRENCH
